Will I receive interest?

Print PDF

The statute governing proceedings by local municipalities provides that interest on the award shall be at the rate of six (6%) percent per annum from the date of vesting of title to the date the award is ready to be paid. The State of New York currently pays interest at nine (9%) percent per annum from the date that title vested in the State. The interest rate may be reduced if the claimant fails to take necessary steps to process the advance payment, or file its claim, or to cooperate in processing the award in a timely fashion.
